Just Arrived From The Printer!
Just arrived from the printer!!! Three classic post cards featuring Silver Hill Depot and more!
As a fan of “The Silver Hill Boys and the Secret Railroad Club” you may recall Silver Hill Depot was erected in 1915. Partially destroyed by fire, the depot was demolished in 1973. Two of the post cards highlight the depot after the fire. One photo features a close-up look, one postcard features a wider look from Silver Hill Bridge. The third photo, includes the Silver Hill Sign plus the front of Silver Hill Depot. The photo was taken in March of 1943! The Silver Hill Sign looks down upon a young lady and two young boys “hanging out” at the depot. The two boys are mentioned in the book! Can you name them? Hint: On summer evenings their dad would visit Flaymont’s Field to play pitcher for both teams. Once again, our deep thanks goes out to Bruce C. Bowden who took these wonderful photos … way back then …
